Conference Events
Welcome Reception
A Welcome Reception will take place Friday January 25, 2008 8:30pm - 11:00pm. This will be the opening event for the First Annual Big Ten Conference on Black Student Leadership. The Welcome Reception will give conference attendees a chance to mingle and meet new people, enjoy light refreshments and relax before the start of the conference. Highlights for the event will be a showcase of school spirit with a Roll Call of attending schools, and our main highlight will be comedian Damon Williams! Check out his website.
Step Show
The Step Show will take place on Saturday January 26, 2008, at 9:15pm. This event will showcase step teams from the Divine 9 Historically Black Greek Organizations attending the First Annual Big 10 Conference on Black Student Leadership. The step show is open to all conference attendees; you must have your conference badge to enter! The Step Show will take place in the new, state of the art, Recreation and Physical Activity Center on the Ohio State University campus.
If you are a member of a Fraternity or Sorority interested in participating, please fill out the web form located on the home page of this website, and indicate you are interested in receiving an application. Additional information will then be provided to you from the Entertainment Committee. There will be a top prize of $500.00 and a trophy awarded to the best step team.
The cost to attend the Step Show is $10 per person and is not included in your registration. You can pre-purchase tickets at the time of registration or purchase tickets prior to the show during the conference. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
Conference Social
The Conference Social will take place on Saturday January 26, 2008, immediately following the Step Show. This is an opportunity for conference attendees to socialize, dance and enjoy the newly constructed Recreation & Physical Activity Center on the Campus of The Ohio State University. Entertainment will be provided by a popular local DJ. Conference attendees will have to pay an entrance fee of $10 which can be paid for at the time of registration or the morning of the party. There will be no sales at the door and conference attendees must have conference ID in order to enter. Refreshments will be served.
Gospel Fest
The Gospel Fest will take place on Sunday evening January 27, 2008 9:15pm-11:45pm. This event will showcase various gospel solo artist and groups as well as, mimes, and praise dancers attending the First Annual Big 10 Conference on Black Student Leadership. The acts will be part of the celebration and worship service with a goal of uplifting the spirits of all those in attendance. The Gospel Fest will take place on the campus of The Ohio State University in Hitchcock Hall, with transportation being provided from the conference hotels.
If you or your choir are interested in participating in the Gospel Fest, please fill out the web form located on the home page of this website, and indicate you are interested in receiving an application for the Gospel Fest. Additional information will then be provided to you from the Entertainment Committee.
Roll Call Instructions
Welcome Reception
The purpose of the roll call is to highlight your school's spirit and let conference attendees know where everyone is from! We encourage all schools participating in the conference to wear your school colors and spirit gear!
Rules
- Each school will be given 15 seconds to do a very brief cheer or chant.
- No slamming of other schools or vulgar language
- Have fun and be excited to represent your institution at the first Big Ten Conference on Black Student Leadership!
