Conference Planning Team and Committee Structure

The Big Ten Conference on Black Student Leadership is planned and implemented by students, for students. This opportunity allows for leadership training and teambuilding among the Conference Planning Team. There are advisors and students on the Planning Team. The Breakdown is as follows:

  • Two Student Conference Co-Chairs
  • Two Conference Advisors (Staff members)
  • The Planning Team consists of Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs, as well as staff advisors for each committee. The committees each have their own meetings and members. Below is a short description of each committee:

Student Conference Co-Chairs: Sirita Harvey and Jessica Loyd

These two students will organize and implement all aspects of planning the conference, with the assistance of the Committee Co-Chairs and their advisors. They will also be the spokesperson for all major events, run Conference Planning Team meetings, trouble-shoot various problems associated with the conference, and work with their advisors.

Conference Advisors: Kelly Ignatoski and Bernie Savarese

The Conference Advisors will directly advise the Conference Co-Chairs, and indirectly advise the Committee Advisors and Committee Co-Chairs. They will oversee all budget management of the conference, and assist the students in planning and implementing a large-scale conference.
